New Years Resolutions for Wine Lovers

Updated: Jan 4, 2023

There are very few things in life that can match the joy of wine. It's a product that is made by people who care, and it's enjoyed by people who love it as much as they do. That being said, we're always looking for new ways to explore our favourite beverage. For example, did you know there are vegan wines? Or that there are English vineyards? We've put together some fun New Year's resolutions for wine lovers to consider making in 2023!

Explore new wine regions

The wine regions of the world are vast, but did you know there are over 800 vineyards and wineries in England and Wales alone? It can be tempting to stick with your favourite region or grape varietal, but why not try something new? With so many wine options out there, it’s worth taking the time to explore a few new places every once in awhile. Maybe you'll discover a new favourite region or maybe you'll just find another wine that makes your mouth happy!

Drink more vegan wines

Vegan wines are made without any animal products, so they're a great option for those who want to drink wine but don't eat meat, seafood or dairy. The vegan wine movement is growing and there are plenty of options available. A lot of English is wine is made using non-animal fining products - so be sure to ask around! Veganuary has never been so easy!

Host a Wine Event

If you're the type who likes to be in charge of things, why not host your own wine tasting? Invite some friends over and have them each bring a bottle of English wine and explore some food and wine pairings. You can set parameters such as a particular region, a specific grape or an agreed price point.

Or, sit back and enjoy a Welcombe to You Wine Tasting Experience in the comfort of your own home (we take away the washing up too!)

Visit an English vineyard

Did we already mention there are over 800 vineyards in England and Wales? Go and see them for yourself! For example, Welcombe Hills Vineyard in Warwickshire runs vineyard tours and wine tastings most weekend throughout the summer. Visiting a vineyard is the perfect opportunity to learn more about what goes into your glass.

Have a wine adventure

Whether you’re an experienced sipper or just getting into it, there’s no better time to embark on a new wine adventure than now. Wine is best enjoyed with friends, so why not make it part of your social plans for 2023? It can be as simple as meeting at a bar for happy hour on Friday after work, then having dinner together on Saturday night at home over glasses of English bacchus (and maybe some cheese). Get a group together and try a Wine & Cheese evening, or join in a grape harvest at the end of the season. Or, just invite some friends over for Tuesday night trivia night where everyone competes against each other in order to win a bottle of English sparkling wine. You get the idea!

There are many exciting things to look forward to in the world of wine, and it’s great to keep your goals fresh. Each year brings new vintages and new experiences. The best part is that you don’t have to be an expert when it comes time for your next adventure — just grab some friends or family members and go on a ride!

Nestled at the top of the Welcombe Hills overlooking the picturesque Stratford-Upon-Avon in Warwickshire, Welcombe Hills Vineyard runs vineyard tours, wine tastings, wine and cheese pairings, corporate and private events. For more information, see our event listings
