    After a 4 year break we are delighted to be relaunching Welcombe Hills Vineyard with a range of wines from the past and present and our new tasting room is ready to kick English Wine Week with our first tours.     My family and other animals

    Having acquired the vineyard, we appear to have also inherited most of Farthing Wood in our back garden. First, a horde of crows stand guard on our barn and show very little fear to humans, machines or life in general. I fear these mean-looking birds offer Welcombe Hills what the rooks offer the Tower of London, so will do nothing to annoy or deter them as they were here long before me so surely have squatters rights.     After the Beast from the East had given us such a spectacular late winter the first, and most crucial, job of the year swung underway. Winter pruning is a fine art, and selecting the best wood for next years growth sets the tone for the year ahead. This was also the first opportunity, being new to wine growing, to get my hands dirty and get in amongst the vines.
